Arkansas Boy Refuses To Recite Pledge In The Name Of Gay Rights
Will Phillips, an unusually thoughtful and articulate ten-year-old Arkansas boy, has refused to stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance in his classroom until the words "with liberty and justice for all" ring true to him. When will that be? When "all" includes gays and lesbians, he says.
Will appeared on CNN this morning with his very, very, very proud dad, Jay, to share his story and discuss the issue. "I've grown up with a lot of people and I'm good friends with a lot of people who are gay and I think they should have the rights all people should, and I'm not going to swear that they do," he said.
Thanks, Will!
