In a brilliant display of how not to exercise journalistic integrity, and in an effort to play up the estimated amount of protesters that attended an anti-health-care-reform rally in D. C. last week, Fox News played Frankenstein with footage of that event and an event that took place back in September. If not for the eagle eyes over at The Daily Show, Fox would have gotten away with the bait-and-switch (video below). That's not to say that Fox hasn't gotten away with creative splicing before. For all we know it's routine behavior.
Still, Fox and all its loyal viewers will no doubt claim this is a singular error and/or attempt spin Stewart's report into an attack on the GOP. But no excuse could justify this type of video manipulation; someone should lose his/her job over this:
| The Daily Show With Jon Stewart | Mon - Thurs 11p / 10c | |||
| Sean Hannity Uses Glenn Beck's Protest Footage | ||||
| ||||
What a disappointment.
Remember the 'old days' when clips and pictures said, 'file footage'? (Please notice, we hardly EVER see that disclaimer anymore-all channels.)
And although this is unacceptable, it's not the news, it's Sean Hannity.
I'll refrain from throwing mud (unless you'd like examples of shenanigans from the Left), as two wrongs don't make a right.
Regardless of politics, news or opinion, this shit fucking pisses me off. Like most people, I don't like being deliberately misled.
